The History of Papa Murphy
Terry Collins first invented the take-and-bake concept in Hillsboro, Oregon, back in 1981. Collins opened his first Papa Murphy’s restaurant with a colleague under the “Papa Aldo’s Pizza” name. The concept was innovative and simple: to provide freshly prepared pizzas for customers to take home and bake themselves.
Papa Aldo’s concept gained rapid popularity amongst pizza enthusiasts who enjoyed the convenient and high-quality pizzas. Terry Collins partnered up with Robert Graham in 1984; the result was the Papa Murphy’s we know today.
Graham’s management rapidly expanded Papa Murphy’s, opening locations throughout the United States. The company became known as a household pizza name. Papa Murphy’s is known for its commitment to fresh ingredients, handmade dough, and premium toppings.
Papa Murphy’s continues to innovate over the decades, adding new items to its menu and improving the take-and-bake concept to keep up with the ever-changing tastes and preferences.
