Today’s new generation does not imagine a happy life without Snapchat, an app, allowing the users to send messages that will disappear in a while. In addition, it is a fascinating tool for creating custom stories, snap codes, snap streaks, filters, etc. But to fully enjoy the time spent on Snapchat, you should be well informed and keep your account secure. On this end, you will most probably need a set of privacy tips.

  1. Have Only Your Friends Contact You

There is a feature of showing your photos and videos to any user on Snapchat, but users often see it as a downside, wishing not to have anyone contact them. Choose between allowing everyone to contact you or having only a limited number of people do so. These people are usually added to your friend list. By saying contact, we mean video snaps, photo snaps, chats, and calls.

Make sure that only your friends contact you, as anyone can randomly add your username by chance. Also, anyone can find your snapcode online if you previously took a screenshot of it. To prevent this, you need to enter Settings, find the Contact Me option and tap My Friends, and you will see a checkmark appearing next to it.

  1. Choose Who You Want to See Your Stories

What are the Snapchat stories for? They are your unforgettable glimpses that took place in the past 24 hours. You don’t send any snap to your friends, stories are posted to your My Story section, and they show up in users’ feeds the way you set them in your settings.

While stars, celebrities, and public figures prefer to be connected with fans and followers via enabling everyone to view their stories, you may feel more comfortable to be more private and give this privilege to your friends only. Additionally, you have an option of building a custom list of all those who you want to view you. Here again, you should enter Settings, click on Who can… section and tap View My Story. Now you need to select My friends or build a custom list.

  1. Ignore or Block Random Users Who Add You

Oftentimes, random users add you to their friend list even if you don’t know them at all and you rack your brain about how they found your username. Even if you know about all the above mentioned tips to secure your account, now you need something stronger such as removing or blocking users who try to add you on Snapchat. For this, you will do the following:

  1. Tap the icon of your profile picture,
  2. Tap the Add Friends option,
  3. Find the line Added Me. Tap Show More to see everyone who added you,
  4. Tap the profile picture of any user and pull up their profile,
  5. Tap the three dots in the top right corner,
  6. Select Block, Report, or Ignore Friend Request.

4. Delete Stories if You Changed Your Mind

Yes, you cannot unsend already sent snaps but you can delete Snapchat stories that are already posted. In case of regretting, do the following steps:

  1. Tap your Stories tab,
  2. View Your Story,
  3. Swipe up and tap the Trash Can icon.

If there are many stories, you must delete them one by one.

Conclusion

It is advisable to follow some tips and have high-quality privacy. Otherwise, others may be enthusiastic about what you do on social media apps. Sometimes their curiosity makes them install a spying tool and watch over your chats, calls, etc. If you don’t know the functionality and importance of spying apps, you can read about how to spy on Instagram dm free, how to spy on Facebook messages, etc.
